The map below shows the outdoor activities that are available in, and close to, the valleys. Place the little hand over the icon and this will show the name of the facility. Click on the marker and this will display a short description of what is on offer and provide contact details. There are many places which offer good fishing, so the map below just identifies some of the highlights.

St Marys Loch : Offers sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking. No motorised boats at ant time. Contact St Mary's Loch Sailing Club for further details. Tel: 0131 663 2079

Ettrick Marshes Honey Cottage car park : A unique forest floodplain where you can walk, see wildlife or just enjoy the scenery.

Ettrick Marshes : Excellent walking with a variety of routes of different distances. See 'Walking' page of website for detailed routes and maps.

Ettrick MarshesTima Car Park : This forest flood plain is a unique habitat in Scotland. Come and look for red squirrels and enjoy one of the walks that start from here. See the 'Walking' page for details and routes.

Megget Reservoir : Information about fishing is available from the Gordon Arms, Yarrow Valley tel: 01750 82261

St Mary's Loch : Day tickets for fishing and boats for hire are available from the Loch Keeper 07724 523777. Day tickets also available from the Glen Cafe and Tibbie Shiels Inn.

Glentress Forest : Mountain biking trails for all ages and stages as well as the 'Go Ape' tree top adventure.

Glenlude : The John Muir trust are establishing a diverse and multi-aged woodland, of primarily native broadleaves. Look out for black grouse.

Selkirk Golf Course : This is a lovely, challenging 9-hole course with fabulous views. Just turn up and 'pay and play' at reasonable prices. Tel: 01750 20621

Bowhill Stables : Well-trained and well-schooled horses for all abilities. Opportunities for riding lessons as well as trekking of different durations. Tel: 01750 20076

Ian Stark Equestrian Centre : Riding lessons available and also expansive trekking and hacking. Tel: 01750 20202

Witchieknowe Paragliding : Depending on the weather conditions, you can bring your own equipment and drive to the top of the hill. Check with Wingbeat for any current site restrictions.

Cacra Hill Paragliding : Weather dependent, this is a location for paragliding with your own equipment. Check with Wingbeat for any current site restrictions.

Bowhill Country Estate : Offers a range of walks, soft play area and adventure playground for children and various activities throughout the season. Tel: 01750 22204

Ettrick Horseshoe Walks : Challenging walks of different legnths, but well worth the fantastic views on a clear day. Not advised for poor weather. See walking page for details and routes.

Cramault Tower, Megget Reservoir : This is a beautiful spot to get away from it all and enjoy breathtaking scenery.

Ettrickbridge Walks : There are a number of walks that start in this pretty little village. Look at the walking page for details and routes.

A range of walks start at the Village of Yarrowford. Visit the Three Brethren or follow the Minchmoor Road. See walking page of this website for more details.

Exciting stretch of the Ettrick Water for those who are able to bring their own equipment.

St Mary's Loch offers a great stretch of water for those able to bring their own canoe.

Very quiet and remote location for those who are able to bring their own canoe. Boat launch available at this location.

Look out for ospreys which feed on fish from the loch.

There are two bird hides beside the trails in the Ettrick Marshes. Look out for Ospreys.

Ettrickbridge has a tennis court which visitors can enjoy if their accommodation provider has a membership.

It is possible to wind surf on St Mary's Loch if you bring your own equipment. There is no rescue service available, so you need to be competent.
